If only.... , 2009

If only…. are two words on the cover of a small leaflet. On the second page of the leaflet one will find the following text:

Often I don’t say what I mean.
I relay conversations that have passed in my head, and create new ones, more true ones.
I think if only….that was what I really meant to say.

But someone beside me giggles and says better luck next time….

So for practice, for record, for clarification – to re-write the past in the present and to contribute to the betterment of the future – I have drawn up a way to materialise them, if not in life at least on paper.

On the following page of the leaflet there is space to write down a memory of a conversation, a moment, an encounter or event ‘as it happened’ and then to imagine and reconfigure ‘as it could have happened’.
